This is in response to the question posed by one of our group members Mr. Ramkrishna Datta for instigating us to give a thought and share our opinions . Business Negotiation is a crucial component, the presence of which makes the career graph of an individual upward rising.Management in an organization involves managing things through effective negotiation, from the personal level to the organizational, with various parties inside and outside the organization.Negotiation not only helps in reaching a consensus and achieving the targets while working in teams but also helps in getting the best deal.A manager with an effectual negotiation increases the customer base and at the same time builds a strong and loyal workforce which helps to achieve the organizational objectives. Thus in my opinion, business negotiation skills are a must when it comes to management, as lack of sound negotiation may pave the path for mismanagement.

It is not only important to understand Business Negotiations but also experience it. But it is not possible for you to have it at present.Hence it is suggested that you may also use different forums to have mock experiences and also call few guest lectures to share
their experiences. Get the people from Industry you know. I will also call one. Have nice time in BN Classes

Learning this subject will give us insights into how we must align ourselves with the different types of negotiations based on situations to effectively tackle them and come with a win win situation which will not only foster relationship involved between two parties but also help to build a long term relationship ( advantage)

"Negotiation in the classic diplomatic sense assumes parties more anxious to agree than to disagree". - Dean Acheson....

I thoroughly agree with this statement...because in most cases we would only end up agreeing for what ever be the value we happen to possibly get! BUT...! He who carries the ability to disagree without being disagreeable discovers the most valuable secret of the diplomat(your other party).

what do u think.....?

Guys a news broke out about the Americans showing their true colours 1 more time... They've been supplying UAVs (unmanned air vehicles) and drones and F-16s to Pak to fight a bunch of militia...

Now it's not true that the Pakistani military would require such hitech weaponry to fight the Taliban... The supply of the same is greatly endangering the position of India in the sub-continent as Pak uses these for contemplating their military position against India...

Now India needs to act smart and be proactive in putting diplomatic pressure on US to stop its hypocritical stand on the Indo- Pak issue...

Please come out with negotiating strategies for India to approach this problem

Should it be an integrative approach or a distributive approach?
Is it a dependent or an independent relationship?

Many such questions are going to arise, so guys only the best brains can come out with top strategies...

Are you the best?

Parties involved:

India
Pakistan
USA

Issue:

Supply of destructive weapons to Pak

Ragu,
It is a good question. Firstly, on the basis of relationship we need with US, I felt we should go for integrative negotiation. We need long term relationship with US and any country for that matter. No country can stand alone to become a super power in this world. At one time or other we need to depend upon one country or the other.

This is essential because the resources in this world is spread across the earth. India may have enough manpower but we need other resources to come out with innovative ideas.

As metioned by Sir in the class, even in the integrative negotiations we will bargain to meet our requirements. Hence, it is a better strategy than others.

I completely agree with the above comment, the internet is with a doubt growing into the most important medium of communication across the globe and its due to sites like this that ideas are spreading so quickly.
